Experiencing issues with your pool heating system ?
Please check the following troubleshooting techniques and if you’re unable to fix your issue, please check How to turn off your pool heating system below.
Issues with VortexPro or NovaS Heat Pumps
Issues with Madimack Heat Pumps
Pool Pump Won't Prime
This shouldn’t have anything to do with the pool heating install, as typically the issue is between your pool and your pump.
Here are some things for you to try to resolve your issue:
Integrated System:
- Is the pump cable fully and correctly plugged in? Please try to disconnect and reconnect your pump to see if this solves your issue.
- Is your pool suction cleaner running at the same time as the pool heating is running? This can cause issues with suction, please try disconnecting this and see if it resolves the issue.
- Is your pool water level above the skimmer box line? Please make sure there is enough water in your pool.
- Is your pool pump basket clean? Please make sure your pump basket isn’t blocked or obstructed (ie. leaves, hair, etc)
- Is your cartridge filter clean ? Please make sure it’s clean and free of debris.
- Is the lid and barrel unions on your pump tight enough and not sucking in any air? Please make sure it’s fully screwed in together.
- Please aslo check you sand filter, it may need backwashing.
Independent system:
- Please add 10 buckets of water inside the pump one after the other (or more if needed). Then place the lid on and turn pump on. Please make sure the lid is tightened properly, otherwise it will suck air.
- If this doesn’t work there may be a crack or issue with the suction line from the pool to the pump location. This can be inspected by your pool guy or plumber.
Pump Leaking
If your pump is leaking, please act promptly to prevent further damage occurring as well as to reduce water loss. Sometimes continual vibration of a pump operating is enough to upset glue or pipe joins, resulting in a leak. It may simply need re-tightening so please simply turn the pump OFF, un-screw the barrel unions, make sure the o-ring is correctly placed, then re-screw the unions. Please only hand-tighten the unions, otherwise the o-ring can be crushed causing the pump to leak.
Water Not Flowing
If the water is not flowing steadily, this can be due to air being trapped in the pipes, not sufficient water in your pool, or foreign objects restricting the flow in your pipes and/or filter (such as hair, band-aids or bits of clothing). Please make sure the filter is cleaned and emptied regularly, as well as the pump gasket and your skimmer box.
Leak On Roof
It is recommended that you inspect the solar collector on your roof regularly. A continuously leaking system will not only cause damage to your roof, but also create costly water bills with the loss of water from your pool.
These items rarely require maintenance, however there has been occasion where failing branches or hail storms have damaged the collectors and/or cracked the manifolds so it would be wise to check them on a regular basis, especially after any hail or wind storm.
It can be difficult for you to gain access to your roof and therefore notice leaks. There are a few signs that may point out to a leak:
– excessive decreasing pool water level
– hearing running water on your roof or gutters when there hasn’t been any rain
If you suspect your solar collector system is leaking, please turn your solar system off until we can schedule one of our technicians in.
How To Turn Your Solar System OFF?
If you are experiencing leaks in your Solar Systems or any other issues not pointed out above, please turn your Solar Heating System off until we can schedule one of our technicians to inspect and fix your issue.
For Integrated Systems (Your Solar System is connected to your filtration):
If you have a solar booster pump, please unplug the solar booster pump from the solar controller.
If you have an AV automated valve system, turn the temperature down to 22 degrees, make sure the valves are closed, and unplug the solar controller.
For Independent Systems (Your Solar System is connected to your Heating Provisions directly onto your pool):
Simply unplug the solar controller.
How To Turn Your Electric Heat Pump OFF?
If you are experiencing leaks with your Heat Pump or any other issues not pointed out above, please turn your Heat Pump off until we can schedule one of our technicians to inspect and fix your issue.
For Integrated Systems (Your Heat Pump is connected to your filtration):
Please turn your 3-way valve (located between your Sand Filter and your Chlorinator) so the closed position is facing the pipe going into the back of the heat pump. This will stop any water from going into the heat pump. Then turn power off to your heat pump.
For Independent Systems (Your Heat Pump is connected to your Heating Provisions directly onto your pool):
Simply unplug your booster pump and heat pump from the power (make sure to unplug the independent booster pump and not your general pool pump).
